On Thursday 30 November, the two most important French Polo Clubs received the polo world at the Alvear Palace in Buenos Aires and presented the 2018 season including the brand new French Triple Crown set up in 2017 and won at the outset by the Argentinian team Cibao La Pampa.
The Deauville Int. Polo Club and the Polo Club of Domaine de Chantilly, two major international polo clubs, have been working together for many years to bring the best of polo to teams and the public.

....DEAUVILLE : AU PATRIMOINE DU POLO MONDIAL
Si le club de Deauville a été fondé en 1907, on jouait déjà au polo au coeur de ’Hippodrome à la fin du XIXe siècle. C’est sur ce site que se dispute la célèbre Coupe d’Or depuis 1950. Un trophée parmi les plus convoités du circuit international et qui a été d’ailleurs enlevé par sept des huit finalistes qui se disputeront le 124ème Open d’Argentine samedi prochain dans la « Cathédrale du polo de Palermo » à Buenos Aires. Deauville. Lorsque Facundo Pieres l’a remportée en 2009 avec l’équipe
Barrière, il soulignait que cette Coupe d’Or était « un titre que tout grand joueur de polo se devait d’inscrire à son palmarès, voilà une bonne chose de faite pour ma part ».
Aujourd’hui, sous la présidence de Jean-Edouard Mazery, le Deauville Polo Club reste une étape incontournable du circuit international avec ses Coupes d’Argent et d’Or se jouant traditionnellement au mois d’août. D’autres événements sont venus s’ajouter autour de ces tournois emblématiques, notamment la Coupe de Bronze et la Ladies Cup qui connaît chaque année un essor spectaculaire. Tout au long de l’année, grâce au manège couvert du Pôle International du Cheval, sont proposés des cours et des tournois de tous niveaux. Le Deauville International Polo Club dispose de quatre terrains en herbe et de deux arenas dont une couverte.
La Coupe d’Argent et la Coupe d’Or constituent désormais les deux premières étapes du grand
chelem de la nouvelle Triple-Couronne française.
Pour compléter son tableau de chasse, la même équipe devra aller gagner ensuite l’Open de
France qui se joue en septembre sur les terres le Polo Club du Domaine de Chantilly.
CHANTILLY : LE PLUS GRAND CLUB D’EUROPE
Ce club, le plus grand d’Europe avec ses neuf terrains en herbe et ses deux en sable, a été crée en 1995 par Patrick Guerrand-Hermès et s’étend sur 230 hectares, dans un cadre de verdure inouï, en bordure d’une sublime forêt et autour d’une magnifique ferme datant du XVIIe siècle, la Ferme d’Apremont. Ce club, animé par Philippe Perrier, a dynamisé le polo français lui permettant de doubler le nombre de ses licenciés. Il a notamment accueilli le Championnat du monde FIP en 2004 ou encore le premier Championnat d’Europe féminin cette année.
Chantilly est d’ailleurs très féministe puisqu’à été crée en 2013 le premier Open dames.
Beaucoup de grands joueurs argentins sont venus jouer également à Chantilly, parmi lesquels quatre finalistes de l’Open de Palermo 2017 : Pablo McDonough, Juan-Martin Nero, Polito et Facundo Pieres.
Parmi les 48 tournois qui y sont organisés chaque année (ce qui représente environ 500 matchs), l’Open de France est le plus prestigieux. Il constitue donc la troisième étape de la Triple-Couronne française.
La Triple-Couronne a été remporté cette année par l’équipe argentine de Juan et Jorge Pepa, Cibao La Pampa, avec notamment en son sein l’un des joueurs les plus remarqués au cours de cet Open d’Argentine, Fran Elizalde, probablement futur handicap 9 après ses prestations à Palermo avec La Albertina.
Lors de cette réception à l’Alvear Palace de Buenos Aires, jeudi 30 novembre, Deauville et
Chantilly, après avoir rendu hommage à Cibao La Pampa, ont donc donné rendez-vous au monde du polo du 1er août au 16 septembre prochains, dans ces deux clubs prestigieux pour un nouveau rendez-vous avec l’histoire du polo.

DEAUVILLE: WORLD POLO HERITAGE
If the Deauville club was founded in 1907, polo was already played in the centre of the Hippodrome in the late nineteenth century. This is where the famous Gold Cup has been playing since 1950. One of the most coveted trophies on the international circuit and which has been won by seven of the eight finalists who will compete for the 124th Argentine Open on Saturday next in the "Palermo Polo Cathedral" in Buenos Aires. Only David Stirling does not know (yet) Deauville. When Facundo Pieres won in 2009 with the Barrière team, he emphasized that the Gold Cup was "a title that every great polo player had to put on his record, which I have now achieved ".
Today, under the presidency of Jean-Edouard Mazery, the Deauville Int. Polo Club remains an essential stop on the international circuit with its Silver and Gold Cups traditionally played in August. Other events have been added around these iconic tournaments, including the Bronze Cup and the Ladies Cup, which has shown spectacular growth every year. Throughout the year, thanks to the indoor riding school of the International Horse Centre, courses and tournaments of all levels are offered. The Deauville International Polo Club has four grass pitches and two arenas, one of which is covered.
The Silver Cup and the Gold Cup are now the first two stages of the grand slam of the new French Triple Crown.
To claim the title, the same team will have to go on to win the Open de France which is played in September on the grounds of the Polo Club of Domaine de Chantilly.
CHANTILLY: THE LARGEST CLUB IN EUROPE
This club, the largest in Europe with its nine grass pitches and two sand pitches, was created in 1995 by Patrick Guerrand-Hermès and covers 230 hectares, in an incredible green setting, on the edge of a magnificent forest and around a beautiful farmhouse dating from the seventeenth century, the Apremont Farm.
This club, led by Philippe Perrier, has boosted French polo to double the number of its licensees. It hosted the FIP World Championship in 2004 and the first European Women's Championship this year. Chantilly is also very feminist since it created in 2013 the first Open Ladies. Many great Argentinian players have also come to play in Chantilly, including four finalists in the 2017 Palermo Open: Pablo McDonough, Juan-Martin Nero, Polito and Facundo Pieres. Out of the 48 tournaments held each year (representing about 500 games), the Open de France is the most prestigious. It is therefore the third stage of the French Triple Crown.
The Triple Crown was won this year by the Argentinian team of Juan and Jorge Pepa, Cibao La Pampa, with among them one of the most noticed players during this Argentine Open, Fran Elizalde, probably a future handicap 9 after his performances in Palermo with La Albertina.
During this reception at the Alvear Palace in Buenos Aires, Deauville and Chantilly, after paying tribute to Cibao La Pampa, have therefore invited the world of polo from August 1 to September 16, to participate in the tournaments organized by these two prestigious clubs and write a new page in the history of French polo. Which team will take up the challenge of the Triple Crown in 2018 and succeed Cibao La Pampa as the next winner of the French Triple Crown?
